My Horse My Hero

Caroline Lamb & Sparks
I have owned sparks for 27 years. He has been through so much with me. He’s helped me through fall outs, break ups, depression moving to college I took him with me I just couldn’t leave him behind he’s my rock, my mums illness and passing. He’s been there for me to chat to and a neck to cry on. But the main reason he is my hero is he taught me how to ride and to ride properly he’s a quirky pony with lots of character and we have had so much fun together we have made so many memories that I will never forget he’s made my childhood amazing taught me how to love to care to respect a beautiful creature. He suffers from many allergies which has been challenging and also Cushings which he was diagnosed with 2 years ago he went downhill so fast I retired him and I really thought I was going to lose my best friend. But no I didn’t he came back stronger than ever. I brought him back into work in September last year and he has taught my son how to ride and they have an incredible bond. He’s also made a 15 year olds dream come true to compete at arena uk. They qualified with the veteran horse society as a supreme finalist at the championships in October last year. He is now jumping and and is living his best life. He’s loved by many and gets away with far too much. Not only is he my hero and Jack my sons hero he’s Abby’s too ❤️

My Horse My Hero
Catherin McMillan & Melody
Melody joined our family in 2012 as my youngest daughters pony club horse.. Three things I didn’t want a chestnut thoroughbred mare… How wrong could I be? Mel carried our daughter to many a championship win at Pony club, Interschool’s, Riding Club and the Sydney Royal Easer show.. She always looked after her no matter what. They had a bad showjumping accident in 2015 on wet ground. If it hadn’t been for Melody spotting our daughter as she was coming down to make sure she was not going to land on her, my daughter would have been seriously hurt . A one in a million mare.. my daughter decided to give up riding in 2016 I took Mel on as my dressage horse.. I learnt so much from this gorgeous girl and we formed a fantastic partnership.. Winning veteran horse of the year twice and champion off the track thoroughbred at our local dressage club.. Melody became my best friend made me laugh and always made me strive to be a better rider.. Mel is my hero she looked after my daughter and then looked after me.. I love this girl to pieces. Everyone should have a chestnut tb mare at least once

My Horse My Hero
Chloe Barker & Minnie
Where do I begin... I was lucky enough to have my first pony at 12 years old, and 10 years on Minnie is still a huge part of my life. My Gran bought for me just before she passed away, she really did make my dreams come true.
Me and Minnie have shared some amazing memories, from going on holiday together to Delamere Forest, endurance rides and simply a day out at the beach. Minnie really is my absolute world and has been the only constant in my life.
We’ve also had some tough times, especially in 2019 when she was diagnosed with a foot imbalance which caused inflammation of her collateral ligaments following an MRI. Remedial shoeing, controlled exercise & hydrotherapy enabled her to make a full recovery. We got through it with many tears but she is now doing better than ever.
My baby girl & hero always.
Minnie, you owe me nothing.

My Horse My Hero
Nicole Jones & Dazzle
This is Dazzle. She’s the first horse I lessoned on at my barn & has taught me so much in a few months. She has her quirks but what horse doesn’t? Everything I learned about English riding is because of her. I had no balance or upper body strength when I started but because of her I worked very hard to gain it. She pushes your buttons to make you a better rider & I’m forever grateful. I never cantered before until her & now I can sit without feeling like I’m losing my balance. She’s now teaching me cross rails & jumping, I never thought I’d get this far but our team work is what has made us be the best team we can be. We entered our first show together & got 3rd place! I couldn’t ask for a better team mate & that is why she is my horse hero.

My Horse My Hero
Leona Doudova
My horse, my hero. Why is my horse my hero? So many answers to one
question. My horse is simply an angel in a horse's body. As a little foal, I chose him only through a photo and had him brought from Ireland to my home country - the Czech Republic. We learned everything from the beginning and gradually both. We have experienced a lot together in four years. From the first wandering in nature, shows, breeding a stallion, to the first sitting on the horse's back in complete freedom and without a halter to therapy in nursing homes. During therapies, he is so gentle and calm. He himself determines the person who is the worst in the group and he pays the most attention to it. He teaches me to be a better person. He taught me immense empathy, humility and determination. I know that he is a horse I will meet once in my life, and I try to be the best owner he could ever wish for. Thanks to my horse, I am the person I always wanted to be. We manage everything together and we like to give joy to others. That's why my horse is my hero.
